From the moment attendees arrived, it was clear that this year Rasta City would be a truly immersive experience. The venue was packed with devoted supporters, buzzing with anticipation for the day ahead. The atmosphere was electric—vendors offered tantalizing Caribbean delicacies, while local artisans showcased incredible works of art, creating an ambiance that radiated culture, warmth, and a deep sense of community. The meticulous setup of the stage and surrounding areas only amplified this aura, providing a space that was both visually stunning and functionally perfect for such a massive celebration.
The day kicked off with some of the DMV’s finest DJs and musical talents. Dr. Dre Movements, DJ Ablaze alongside DJ Dolla, and SLM Movements all delivered performances that were nothing short of exceptional. Each act kept the crowd engaged and energized, mixing technical precision with infectious energy that perfectly set the stage for what was to come.
Ffurious opened the stage portion of the show, captivating the crowd with his smooth delivery and undeniable stage presence. Performing tracks including a collaborative piece with Capleton, Ffurious had the audience fully engaged, earning applause and cheers that reflected his talent and command over the crowd.
Next, the legendary Capleton, known as “The Fireman”, took the stage in a stunning ensemble of red and shimmering silver, complete with matching footwear that caught the lights spectacularly. Dressed in a radiant yellow blazer, crisp white jeans, and white shoes, with a Rastafarian cloth draped across his chest, Sizzla exuded charisma and cultural pride. Launching into “Aznaldo” as he entered the stage, the crowd erupted in such a frenzy it was almost impossible to hear the song itself.
Sizzla went on to perform hit after hit, including “Like Mountain”, “Nuttin In Dem System”, “Babylon Ah Listen”, “Holding Firm”, “Got It Right There”, “Words of Divine”, “Woman I Need You”, “Give Me a Try”, “Black Woman & Child”, “Thank You Mama”, and “Get To the Point”. Each song was met with overwhelming enthusiasm—horns blaring, fires lighting up the night, and the crowd’s energy reaching a fever pitch.
